Satoshi has suffered from a lot of main character abuse over the years. Not only has he been repeatedly hit by Pokémon attacks and shown amazing resistance to them, he's almost drowned, almost fallen to his doom... he's had a lot of near death experiences. I even made a comprehensive list with a lot of examples. I doubt it's complete nor will it ever be, but it's an interesting insight into how the writers treat poor Satoshi. Their favourite methods seem to be drowning and falling.

"Pokemon! I Choose You!" - He almost gets mauled to death by Onisuzume flock, he also almost drowned in that river, I guess... he did thank Kasumi for fishing him out, so I guess his plan of jumping down the waterfall wasn't working as well as he hoped. Pikachu's electric blast could have hurt him, since it was RAINING, but it didn't...

"Pokémon Drifting at Sea" - Stranded in the St. Anne which was going to fall into the abyss. If they had still there when it fell, that would have been bad.

"Casey! Psychic Confrontation!" - Falling off the cliff. Satoshi has amazing reflexes. Then there was the doll with the ball that almost crushed everyone.

"Capture at Pokémon Tower!" - Actually dying. Satoshi and Pikachu get killed by a falling chandelier. Strangely enough, being dead doesn't bother them. o_o

"Erika and Kusaihana" - Almost burning to death while rescuing Kusaihana.

"Sekichiku Ninja Showdown!" - Almost falling through trick wall in the Sekichiku Gym. He also almost got killed by flying shuriken stars.

"The Legend of Miniryuu" - Almost drowning when retrieving dynamite from the bottom of the lake.

"Storm on Cycling Road" - Almost falling into the sea on cycles (Rocket-dan got sacrificed instead... but of course they were fine...)

"Electric Soldier Porygon" - Almost bahleeted by the virus destroyer. Pikachu saved them by hospitalising a bunch of innocent children though. (What? It's true...)

"Revival?! Fossil Pokémon!" - Satoshi was trapped in the cave-in at Grandpa Canyon, then almost eaten by a Ptera.

"Rougela's Christmas" - Almost drowns again during the trip to the North Pole, towing the raft. He spent too long staring at a Laplace...

"Iwaku as a Bivouac" - Almost freezing to death during the blizzard. His Pokémon helped keep him warm though.

"Shutter Chance Pikachu" - Almost falling out of the sewers into the water below.

"Legend of Surfing Pikachu" - Almost drowning yet again due to a cramp while he was surfing.

"Fire! Pokémon League Opening Ceremony!" - Rocket-dan attempts to burn Satoshi to a crisp with the huge bowl of fire. Except it backfires since the fire doesn't burn him at all.

"Disastrous Flight!?/Southern Pokémon and the GS Ball" - Crash landing in rickety, dilapidated blimp. Twice in two episodes.

"Island of the Pink Pokémon" - Togepi had to save Satoshi-tachi with Metronome. Twice. Otherwise they would have been knocked off the cliff by pink Saihorn or killed by pink Nidoking.

"Sailing Joi! Exceeding the Rough Water!" - Almost drowning after a Jugon hugs him while in the sea.

"Burning! Kabigon!!" - Not sure about this, but I guess Kabigon... almost ate him? Good thing that apple costume wasn't edible.

"Nyoromo and Kasumi" - Paralysed after being hit by Rafflesia's Stun Spore.

"Goodbye, Lapras!" - Gets hit by Supersonic from multiple Dokukurage. It seemed really painful...

"Goodbye, Chicorita!? The Labyrinth of Electricity!" - Rocket-dan beat Satoshi up with their Pokémon, but Chicorita evolves and saves him.

"Imprisoned Lugia!" - Pwned by Lugia's attack and falls unconscious.

"Kyuukon in the Fog!" - Satoshi gets hurt and almost gets hit by Kyuukon's fire attack as well, but Takeshi stops it.

"Inomoo and Wintery Yanagi!" - Falls down a cliff. Uses Waninoko to break fall.

"Thunder and Crystal! The Lake's Secret!" - Falls off a cliff yet again. Bayleaf catches him though.

"A Lot of Subame, a Lot of Danger! I got one in the Touka Woods!" - Almost getting hurt by the flock of Subame, only to be saved by Takeshi and Forretos.

"Run Satoshi! Cross the Kibania River!" - Gets attacked by Kibania while trying to save Heigani.

"The Startling Yamirami!" - Almost buried alive in mines.

"Showdown! Fishing Master and the Giant Namazun!" - Almost drowning...

"Pikachu joins the Rocket-dan?!" - Almost drowning, but then again, Satoshi is just floating there in the water and holding onto Pikachu. He wasn't even TRYING to surface...

"Seal the Huge Nendoll!" - Almost smashed to a pulp by angry Nendoll.

"Capture Yukiwarashi!" - Crashes into a rock while protecting Yukiwarashi and is knocked unconscious. I guess freezing to death was a risk too.

"Jukain! Hikari of Revival!" - Chased by insane Spear, falls into a river, hurts his knee, hurt by Spear while fending them off, Poison Stung repeatedly by Dokucale, almost falls to death... the writer had a field day alright.

"Moochul and the Three Rougela Sisters!!" - Almost falling to his doom. This is another favourite of the writers, it seems...

"Battle Pyramid! vs Regirock!" - Gets possessed by an evil spirit. (IT WAS STILL DAMN AWESOME THOUGH.)

"Naetle! Get it!" - Chomped on head by Naetle, gets helping of Nazonokusa's Sleep Powder...

"Forest of Hesitation! Shinji Again!!" - Fell off a cliff, chased by Spear, then almost mauled to death by angry Ringuma.

"Pokémon Hunter J!" - Almost killed in falling hangar from J's airship which exploded as it hit the ground, but Gardevoir saved everyone by teleporting.

"Hikozaru vs Zangoose! Destined Battle!!" - Hit by Hikozaru's accidental Flamethrower.

"Hikozaru's Tears!" - A Zangoose slashes Satoshi's shoulder when he protects Hikozaru.

"Rentorer's Eyes!" - Everyone was almost crushed to death by sliding walls.

"Pokémon Ranger! Wave-Guiding Riolu!" - Riolu hits him with Pulse Bomb. Then J tries to kill him (almost barbecued/Hyper Beamed in forest, "hugged" by Drapion then falling from ship in the air)

"The Scorching Hikozaru!" - Chomped on shoulder by Hikozaru.

"Nomose Gym! vs Maximum Mask!" - Hit with Buoysel's SonicBoom, then gets hit by flying Buoysel during gym battle.

"Gligar! Wings of Friendship!" - That fall could have hurt him pretty badly, if it didn't kill him. Looked like a long fall. But Glion saved him.

"The Koduck Roadblock!" - Thrown by Koduck, smashes into side of cliff a couple times when hanging onto Glion. (Is it bad I found Glion smashing into the cliff funny though?)

"Ghost Time After School!" - Almost pulled into the spirit world.

"Fukamaru! Got it!!" - Falling down a cliff twice. It was his own fault for trying to climb down a cliff without rope and then jumping over a ravine. Seriously.

Plus, being electrocuted, burnt, hit by numerous Pokémon attacks many, many times. I can't keep count of them all. He's also almost fallen down breaking suspension bridges many times as well. I swear this anime has given me a fear of suspension bridges. Ok, not really, but I can't see one without thinking about breaking suspension bridges...

"Mewtwo's Counterattack" - Satoshi was sent flying toward a statue at high speed and could have been seriously injured or even killed if it wasn't for Mew. Also, he turned to stone when jumping between Mew and Mewtwo's attacks and the tears of the Pokémon had to bring him back to life.

"Revelation Lugia" - Almost hit by attacks from Freezer, Thunder and Fire. Ended up in danger of drowning, but Kasumi saved him.

"Lord of the Unknown Tower" - Almost fell to his death and had to be saved by Lizardon. Almost fell yet again and was saved by Kasumi, Takeshi and Roketto-dan.

"Celebi: A Timeless Encounter - Had a nasty fall from the giant mecha and even fainted. Vicious stomping on his hand probably didn't help. He was even still in pain upon waking up. Poor Satoshi...

"The Guardian Gods of the Water Capital, Latias and Latios" - Almost drowned when attacked by fossil Pokémon, then Lyon tried to drown him. Latias saved him both times.

"Wishing Star of Seven Nights, Jirachi" - Almost got absorbed by fake Groudon. Hanging onto that giant contraption was pretty dangerous too...

"The Sky Splitting Visitor, Deoxys" - Well, he was treated pretty lightly in this movie for a change. The biggest risk was falling off the blocks.

"Mew and the Wave-Guiding Hero, Lucario" - Got eaten by one of the rampaging blobs, but Mew brought everyone back. Satoshi also actually attempted to sacrifice himself to save the Tree of World's Origin, but was stopped by Lucario.

"Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea, Manaphy" - Almost drowned, but was helped by Manaphy, Haruka and Pikachu.

"Dialga vs Palkia vs Darkrai" - The biggest danger in this movie was the risk of falling. Satoshi also got hit by Darkrai's Dark Void and had a nightmare.

"Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet, Shaymin" - Satoshi was in danger of being poisoned twice, but Shaymin absorbed it both times. Shaymin abused him a bit too and Hikari even kicked him, but it was all played for laughs anyway.

"Arceus: To the Conquering of Space-Time" - Almost falling to his doom and then almost not existing altogether.
