In the beginning, Satoshi declared that he was going to catch all the Pokémon in the world. Well, it may not exactly have happened that way, but Satoshi has caught a lot of Pokémon on his journey and befriended others. This page is dedicated to the many Pokémon that he caught.

Kanto

Pikachu- Pikachu was Satoshi's first Pokémon. When they set off on their journey together, Pikachu was unwilling to listen to Satoshi. However, Satoshi bravely attempted to defend Pikachu from a flock of Onisuzume and Pikachu jumped in to save him. A strong bond formed between them and they became the best of friends. When Satoshi goes to Houen and Shinou, it is Pikachu he chooses to bring with him, while leaving his other Pokémon behind. They are completely inseparable.

Butterfree- Caterpie was the first Pokémon that Satoshi ever caught. It quickly evolved into Trancell, and then into Butterfree. Satoshi let his Butterfree go to mate with a pink Butterfree during the Butterfree mating season.

Pigeot- Satoshi caught Pigeon in the Tokiwa Forest. He rarely ever used it to battle, mostly using it to deal with Roketto-dan and search in the sky. It took a long time for Pigeon to evolve but it did and he used Pigeot to battle an Onidrill, which was originally the Onisuzume he had thrown a rock at and angered on the first day of his journey. He was unable to catch the Onidrill, so he left Pigeot behind to guard the Poppo and Pigeon that the Onisuzume and their Onidrill leader had been attacking, promising to pick it up when he came back from the Orange Islands. That never did happen though.

Fushigidane- Fushigidane originally took care of some wild Pokémon and defended their home. However, the woman living there felt it was a good idea for someone else to take Fushigidane in. Satoshi battled and captured Fushigidane. Fushigidane remained with him until Professor Oak asked that it stay in the reserve, so now Fushigidane watches over the reserve and prevents the Pokémon there from fighting with each other. It also refused to evolve once, preferring to remain in its current form.

Lizardon- Satoshi originally took in a Hitokage that had been abandoned by its trainer. Hitokage quickly became a Lizardon and its entire personality changed. It refused to even listen to Satoshi, until in the Orange Islands when it was frozen by a Nyorobon and Satoshi spent all night with it, keeping it warm. From that point, it listened to Satoshi. When Satoshi and co. discovered the Lizariffic Valley, a place where Lizardon lived and trained, his own Lizardon wished to stay there and showed incredible willpower. It was accepted into the valley and Satoshi had to bid farewell to it. However, Lizardon has come back to battle for Satoshi on occasion, in the Jouto League and the Battle Frontier.

Zenigame- Zenigame was the head of a gang of Zenigame, called the Zenigame-gundan. They had all been abandoned by their trainers and left to run amok over the city. After Satoshi saved Zenigame from Roketto-dan, it wanted to join him. Zenigame stayed on his team until Jouto, when it returned to the Zenigame Squad who had become a team of firefighters under Junsa's command. Like Lizardon, Zenigame has sometimes come back to help Satoshi out in battle.

Kingler- Satoshi discovered Crab when walking alone on the beach and fought it by himself with a stick. Despite this strange tactic of his, he was able to capture it. It later evolved into Kingler during the Sekiei League.

Okorizaru- The group encountered Okorizaru as a Mankey. It stole Satoshi's hat and evolved when enraged. Eventually, Satoshi managed to defeat Okorizaru in battle and caught it. Okorizaru was still angry toward Satoshi however and prone to fits of rage, which meant Satoshi was reluctant to try it in battle. He then entered Okorizaru in the P1 Grand Prix and it became the champion, so Satoshi left it to train.

Betobeton- In a city, a group of Grimer as well as a Betobeton were causing trouble for the people of the city. The Grimer were eventually driven away by Pikachu and some Coil and Rarecoil, but Betobeton remained and Satoshi captured it.

Kentauros- Satoshi doesn't just have one, but thirty of them, and he captured them in a banned episode no less. In the Miniryuu episode, Satoshi and friends went to the Safari Zone and Satoshi tried to capture a lot of Pokémon, but every time he threw a Park Ball, Kentauros would get in the way and be caught. Takeshi didn't have much luck either. Speaking of Takeshi, some people thought he captured the Kentauros, but it actually is one of Satoshi's since he was using one of Satoshi's Park Balls.

Orange Islands

Laplace- Satoshi and co. rescued a Laplace who was being bullied on the beach. They discovered it had been separated from its family and Satoshi promised to reunite them, which he did at the end of the Orange League arc.

Kabigon- A Kabigon was rampaging around some of the islands and eating vegetation. Everyone was trying to stop the Kabigon but had no luck until they enlisted Purin's help and then Satoshi was able to catch Kabigon after it fell asleep.

Jouto

Heracross- Some Heracross and Kairos were fighting over their territory. A Heracross followed Satoshi and co. while they tried to figure out how to stop the Pokémon from fighting. Satoshi later caught Heracross.

Magumarashi- Satoshi and co. discovered a forest where Hinoarashi lived and went in so that Satoshi could find one. He got separated from his friends after an incident with Roketto-dan and ended up in a cave where he met a Hinoarashi. After battling with another trainer and Roketto-dan, Satoshi caught the Hinoarashi. Many years after Satoshi mentioned evolving to Hinoarashi (eight of them!) it finally, finally evolved defending itself against the Roketto-dan just before the start of the Shinou League.

Bayleef- Satoshi and friends encountered a Chikorita and Satoshi immediately wanted to catch it. Chikorita put up a very good fight however, ending up injured and having to be taken to the Pokémon Center. Roketto-dan attempted to take Chikorita for themselves, but Satoshi was able to rescue Chikorita and return it the Pokémon Center. Chikorita decided it wanted to join Satoshi and it did. Chikorita soon developed a crush on Satoshi, even being jealous of Pikachu. Later on, it evolved into Bayleef to save Satoshi who was under attack by Roketto-dan.

Waninoko- Satoshi and Kasumi were both trying to catch a Waninoko and threw their Lure Balls at it when it jumped into a bush. Since they didn't know whose Lure Ball it was, they battled each other and Satoshi won, so he got to keep Waninoko.

Yorunozoku- The group encountered this shiny Yorunozoku when someone was attempting to catch it. When Roketto-dan captured Yorunozoku, Satoshi saved it and then battled it with Pikachu, catching it.

Donphan- After saving the eggs that Roketto-dan was trying to steal from a breeding center, Satoshi was given an egg as a reward. This egg hatched into Gomazou. Later on, in the Battle Frontier, Gomazou wanted to come along with Satoshi so it joined his party. Gomazou then evolved into Donphan while battling Roketto-dan.

Houen

Heigani- Satoshi and friends were camping near the beach and were being pestered by a pesky Heigani. When its identity was revealed, Satoshi battled the Heigani and caught it.

Jukain- As a Kimori, it was trying to save a dying tree but the tree died anyway, leaving behind a seed. Kimori decided it wanted to battle Satoshi, so Satoshi fought with Pikachu and was able to catch Kimori after defeating it. It evolved into Juptoru when battling a Dogomu. Juptoru later became infatuated with a Meganium belonging to Joi, but the Meganium was actually in love with the Tropius who had beaten up Juptoru before. Juptoru had just defeated Tropius in a revenge match and was also trying to win the Meganium's affection, so it was understandably shocked. It evolved into Jukain when Roketto-dan tried to steal Meganium and Tropius, but due to its heartbreak, it had temporarily lost its powers which it did later regain.

Cotoise- Satoshi and co. came across a lone Cotoise being attacked by an Airmd and some Rarecoil. After Satoshi saved it, Cotoise cried and ran off when it heard a Haganeil nearby. Later, Satoshi helped it defeat the Haganeil and Cotoise decided to join him.

Ohsubame- Satoshi, Haruka and Masato ended up almost being mauled by a flock of angry Subame when trying to get food, being saved by Takeshi at the last moment. The Subame were all incredibly strong and even Pikachu had trouble taking them down. The Subame's leader returned for a match with Pikachu but neither side was budging, so Satoshi interrupted the battle by catching Subame. Subame evolved during the PokéRinger competition and won.

Onigoalie- Satoshi met the mischievous Yukiwarashi at the Pokémon Center and chased it when it stole his badges. He ended up getting knocked out when they were falling down a slope together, defending Yukiwarashi from a large rock. Yukiwarashi built an igloo to put him and after Satoshi woke up, Yukiwarashi went to get help. After some scrapes with Roketto-dan, it was revealed Yukiwarashi wanted to stay with Satoshi, but not without a battle first. Satoshi then caught Yukiwarashi. During the Houen Grand Festival, Yukiwarashi evolved into Onigoalie and mastered its Ice Beam in the process.

Kanto

Aipom- Satoshi's only capture in the Battle Frontier, the group met this Aipom after it stole Satoshi's hat. It followed them for a while then during the Kanto Grand Festival, Satoshi was able to defeat and catch Aipom. He tried to leave Aipom behind with the other Pokémon when leaving for Shinou but Aipom followed him and Satoshi let it stay with him. Satoshi and Hikari later traded Aipom and Buoysel since Aipom was keen on doing contests.

Shinou

Mukuhawk- Satoshi and Pikachu had been separated in Shinou when Roketto-dan attempted to steal it. When Aipom got into a scuffle with a Mukkuru, Satoshi had Aipom defeat the Mukkuru in battle so that he could catch it and use it to search for Pikachu from the sky. Mukkuru evolved into Mukubird during battle with Roketto-dan. Mukubird finally evolved into Mukuhawk during the Shinou PokéRinger competition. Yep. Just like Subame did.

Dodaitose- Naetle originally took care of some wild Pokémon and defended their home. However, the woman living there felt it was a good idea for someone else to take Naetle in. Satoshi battled and captured Naetle. (Yes, this is practically word for word from the Fushigidane paragraph...) Unlike Fushigidane though, Naetle evolved, during battle with Shinji's Donkarasu. Hayashigame had trouble dealing with the loss of its speed at first, but eventually adapted to its new form. It eventually evolved into Dodaitose while battling against Roketto-dan.

Goukazaru- Hikozaru originally belonged to Shinji, who had captured it after seeing it unleash a fierce power when threatened by Zangoose. He tried to get Hikozaru to use this power again, treating it rather unkindly in the process, eventually turning his back on it and releasing it. Satoshi saw this and took Hikozaru in. Hikozaru later evolved into Moukazaru during one of Satoshi's battles with Shinji. It then evolved into Goukazaru in order to save Pikachu, Pochama and Jun's Emperte when they were in trouble, using Blaze as its evolution energy and therefore overcoming it.

Buoysel- Buoysel was caught by Hikari, who traded it to Satoshi in exchange for Aipom, since Buoysel wasn't as keen on doing contests as it was on fighting in serious battles.

Glion- A Glion and a group of Gligar were lost in a city and eating all their food. Satoshi and co. tried to get the Gligar out of the city (their leader having been captured by Shinji) and succeeded, but a certain Gligar returned and expressed its desire to stay with Satoshi, who caught it. Gligar became afraid of battles after losing to Shinji's Glion, so Shigeru gave Satoshi a Razor Fang. Satoshi later threw Gligar the Razor Fang when falling down into a valley. Gligar took it and evolved, saving Satoshi. Later on, Satoshi encountered two Pokémon participating in a sky battle and tried Glion out. However, Glion lost twice and Satoshi left it so that it could train in aerial battling.

Fukamaru- After meeting an old lady who trained dragon types, Satoshi attempted to train a Fukamaru to learn Dragon Meteor Shower. At the end of the episode, they left it behind, but Fukamaru followed him anyway since it had grown attached to him. In the next episode, Satoshi caught Fukamaru, who wanted to join his team.
